Meet the Team: Midori Connolly

Meet the Team: Midori Connolly

Charisma, intelligence, and a knack for leadership led Midori Connolly to her role of Senior Sales Director at Everyone Counts. Her pre-election experience spans from providing audio visual technology consulting services to Fortune 50 corporations, to hosting a monthly professional podcast with 20,000 subscribers. Let’s further explore Midori’s journey.

Q: One of the things our clients—and your coworkers—like about you is the way you personally connect to people and your ease with explaining our technology in ways that are easy to understand. You’ve also spoken to audiences of over 2,000 people! Are you just a natural-born presenter and public speaker?

A: Oh my gosh no! I was always shaky at the thought of public speaking. I even remember a time when I was one of only two female speakers at an event in Seoul, where the rest of the speakers were all men. I spoke the last day of the event and the crowd of 10,000 attendees had thinned out considerably. Did I mention that I had split my pants before my speech and had to staple them back together? Terrified, I still managed to give a powerful speech and noticed a swarm of women coming in to listen to my presentation. The feeling of inspiring and educating this group of young women was one of the best feelings ever.

Q: How has nearly a decade of leadership experience in the events industry helped you daily in your role as Sales Director at Everyone Counts?

A: My events experience really helped me discover my passion for empowering people with the education and technology in order to change the world for the better. Throughout my career, I have helped many people, women in particular, overcome their intimidation with technology. Naturally, this led to helping customers realize the impact innovative technology could have for the election industry, and to offering education to overcome their intimidation and fear with the latest technology.

I’ve come to realize after speaking with so many customers that they see the value in updating technology, but sometimes they just don’t know how to make that happen. That’s where I come in. I’m there to educate and guide them through the entire process.

Q: How did you get into the election industry?

A: After being in event technology for so long, I felt a calling to lend my skills to another field that could really produce positive change in the world. The events industry has a motto of “When we meet, we change the world.” I really found that moving. I found it even more powerful to think, “When we vote, we change the world.” This potential is what led me to join the Everyone Counts’ team.

In my position now, I have a genuine sense of accomplishment because I enable others to have that same feeling in terms of changing the world, one vote at a time.

Q: What makes you most proud as an Everyone Counts team member?

A: The team itself—I have never met such an organic culture of camaraderie. It’s natural and never forced. That’s hard to come by. I work with the nicest people on Earth, I swear!

Normally, you find yourself gravitating to one or two people you work with that you feel close to. Here, we truly are a family. Everyone works together toward the common goal of empowering our customers, and it’s actually a joy to come to the office! How many people can say that they don’t dread Monday morning?

Q: When you’re not traveling the country advocating innovative election software, where can we find you?

A: Outside! I’ve been riding horses ever since I was a little girl. I take any chance I can to be out camping, hiking, or riding. I even raced off road for three seasons. I’m in love with exploring the outdoors.
